Code Enforcement Officer – Full-time

This is specialized work processing complaints of violations of the City of Avon Park, Code of Ordinances through investigation of complaints, routine inspections, consultation with violators and resolution of problems. Employees in this class are responsible for responding to verbal and written requests or complaints and making field inspections and assisting in determining the best method of remedying problems.  Insures that all records are maintained and compiles reports of division activities.  Confers with department head for enforcement questions.   Required to work weekends and staggered hours, in order to accomplish duties and responsibilities of the position.  Should have some knowledge of research methods and techniques applicable to determining real property ownership.    

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. General computer skills is required. Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License.  Will be responsible for acquiring various Certificates in Code Enforcement as prescribed by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement, Inc. 

Full-time position with a starting pay at $13.24 per hour with an excellent benefit package.  40 hours per work week which Includes Mandatory Weekend Hours.

City of Avon Park is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Public Safety Officer.  The ideal candidate should have the following certification.  Certified Florida Law Enforcement Officer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.  Supervisory experience preferred.   Valid FL Driver’s License a must.  Candidate must be able to work staggered shifts, weekends, and holidays. Grade 201 $15.00 - $22.00 per hour, with an excellent benefit package.
