Senior Vehicle Maintenance Tech
POSITION FUNCTION:   
Performs semi-skilled, skilled, and administrative work in maintaining the vehicles and mechanical equipment of the departments
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.  The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment of position.

  1. Plans, carries out and evaluates preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles and mechanical equipment,      either personally, or through outside vendors.
  2. Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools.
  3. Tests, services and repairs vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  4. Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work.
  5. Changes and repairs tires and tubes.
  6. Evaluates status of mechanical equipment and vehicles, and performs or schedules needed repairs.
  7. Conducts various analyses and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair or replacement.
  8. Purchases equipment, parts, and supplies used for vehicle and mechanical system maintenance.
  9. Provides emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate.
  10. Maintains records, prepares reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment and mechanical equipment.
  11. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Required

* 5 Years of related experience
* Class C Driver License

Utilities Service Worker II
Grade 50
The City of Avon Park is accepting applications for a Utility Service Worker II

This position is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and installations of valves, meters, gauges, and pumps. Experience with laying pipe line systems, running heavy equipment. High skill set in residential plumbing or utility distribution pipe fitting. 

Qualifications and Experience:

           
  1. High School Diploma or GED required
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid state of Florida CDL driver’s license with appropriate endorsements required
  3. Two (2) years’ experience in installation, repair and maintenance of water distribution systems.
  4. Practical training or experience to demonstrate necessary skills and abilities, preferable in Utilities operations. Must have ability to learn the procedures, tools and equipment unique to the Utilities operations.
  5. Prefer previous experience in related areas

Full time Senior Utility Billing Clerk

The City of Avon Park is accepting applications for a Senior Utility Billing Service Clerk position in the Utility Billing & Accounting Sections. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. 
  • Must possess a valid Florida Class E driver license.
  • Three (3) years related experience and/or related administrative clerical training 

Must pass applicable pre-employment testing and background checks

Demonstrated Billing job specific duties and skills:

  1. Completes out contract forms, determines charges for service requested, collects deposits, prepares change of address records, and issues discontinuance orders.
  2. Adjusts complaints concerning billing or service rendered.
  3. Processes new deposit requests for utility accounts. Inputs data via computer terminal, sorts mail and process work orders and service orders.
  4. Posts payments to customer’s accounts, prepates bank statements
  5. Processing cycle bills, processing final bills, Processing ERT change outs.
  6. Processing new meter installs
  7. Performs additional duties as assigned
  8. Upload and download handheld.
  9. Process cycle bills, final bills and ERT change outs.  
Demonstrated Service clerk duties and skills:
  • Processing payments, Processing mail, Return checks, General fund postings
  • Liens, Charge invoices for septage and community center, Daily balancing spreadsheet, handles customer complaints.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner, have the ability to successfully work with confidential information, and have exceptional listening skills.
  • Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and pressure of a fast paced work environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

STATE CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER
The City of Avon Park
is accepting applications for full-time (24/48) State Certified Firefighter(s).  Minimum Qualifications:  Certification as a firefighter II by the State of Florida Bureau of Standards and Training, State of Florida or National Registry EMT Certification, a valid State of Florida motor vehicle driver’s license and an apparatus driving certificate for CEVO or equivalent.

The candidate must possess the minimum qualifications. Candidates will be required to successfully complete a Firefighters Ability Test.  New Hires will have a required residency of a ten (10) mile radius of the Avon Park Fire Station, 98 S. Delaney Avenue, Avon Park, FL within 24 months of hire. ADMINISTRATIVE EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
The City of Avon Park is accepting applications for a Full-Time Administrative Executive Assistant position in the Administrative offices.  This is a senior level position.

 Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or related field, and three (3) years of work related experience are preferred.   Work experience may be substituted for degree.

Must have intermediate administrative clerical training. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, advanced knowledge in Microsoft office products.

Demonstrated administrative job specific duties and skills

  1. Duties performed may include budget analysis and/or preparation, impact studies, researching outside resources, and/or writing Executive Summaries.
  2. Transcribe and maintain minutes of meetings
  3. Coordinate the City Council agenda packets, and provide assistance to the City Council and Executive Staff with respect to writing, researching and presenting      information in a public forum on projects and/or agenda items.
  4. May be required to present findings through a Council meeting or Executive Staff meeting resulting in the development of Resolutions, Ordinances, Contracts and/or Agreements.
  5. Must be able to read and understand Federal and State regulations, and City policies and procedure manuals.
  6. Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner, have the ability to successfully work with confidential information, and have exceptional      listening skills.
  7. Provide analytical and technical support for special projects
