Sealed bids will be received by the City of Avon Park at the office of the City Manager, 110 East Main Street, Avon Park, Florida 33825, Attention:  Mr. C. B. Shirey, City Manager, up to 2:00 p.m.  local time, July 30, 2004, for the above stated project at Avon Park Executive Airport, Avon Park, Florida. Bids must be completed and signed, in ink, in the space(s) provided on the bid form(s) or the bid will be subject to rejection. 

Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud starting at 2:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as practical. Bids received after 2:00 p.m. on the date specified will not be considered and will be returned to the bidder unopened.  Bids transmitted by facsimile are non-responsive and will not be considered. 

Complete examination and understanding of the drawings and specifications is necessary in order for the Bidder to properly submit a Bid.  Bid Documents will be available for examination on July 5, 2004, and may be obtained from Wilbur Smith Associates, 3535 Lawton Road, Suite 100, Orlando, Florida, 32803, upon payment of $125.00, which is non-refundable.  Checks shall be made payable to Wilbur Smith Associates, Inc. 

A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be conducted at the Avon Park Municipal Airport, Avon Park, Florida, on July 22, 2004, at 10:00 AM, at the Avon Park Jet Center, 1545 State Road 64 West, Avon Park, FL 33825, followed by an inspection of the project site for all wishing to do so. 

Bids must be submitted on the original or an exact reproduction of the bid forms supplied including any addenda which may be issued, in sealed envelopes plainly marked in the Contract Documents and as follows:  Company Name and “Bid No. 04-08, Construction of Perimeter Fence (Phase I)”. 

Each bid must be accompanied by a cashier’s check or by a Bid Bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the sum of the Total Bid Price.
